The SeptiTech advanced wastewater treatment system (AWTS) is currently used in over 100 denitrification sites. The system employs a recirculating fixed film bioreactor that utilizes both disc and bead media in a trickling filter system. The (AWTS) provides high level treatment of BOD, TSS and nitrogen removal.

The system recycles effluent through a raised media bed where a biofilm develops to remove organic load and convert nitrogen to inorganic nitrate and nitrite. Nitrified wastewater from the reservoir is recycled through the septic tank to biologically convert the nitrate and nitrite to nitrogen.

The aerobic trickling filter produces minimal solids. Any solids generated are gathered from the tank floor and pumped back to the septic tank inlet. Air is introduced to the recirculating flow by use of venturi nozzle. Our PLC logic provides control of the entire processor.

Treated effluent is micro-dosed from the processor tank to the soil absorption field or stream discharge using float controlled submersible discharge pump. Disinfection can be provided along the discharge line using a pressure UV sterilizer if needed.

The residential processor kits come in 4, 6, and 8 bedroom sizes and can be installed in either plastic or local concrete tanks. There are 4 basic commercial sized processors that are used for 1500 to 4500 gpd flows. Larger and non-residential flows can be treated by using multiple processors plumbed in series/parallel alignments. Hybrid designs of up to 100,000 gpd can also be engineered by SeptiTech.

SeptiTech’s treatment systems have been certified by NSF for conventional (NSF 40) and nitrogen (NSF 245) removal. SeptiTech’s system was tested under the USEPA’s Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) program.

Typical effluent from a SeptiTech system will have BOD <10 mg/l, TSS <10 mg/l and total-Nitrogen <15 mg/l. Startup of the SeptiTech processor is quite rapid and can yield target treatment concentrations within 4 to 6 weeks.

Comments SeptiTech systems are designed to treat wastewater with minimal owner or operator oversight. In our commercial systems the PLC manages and monitors all system functions at all times. PLC information can be downloaded by modem and reviewed by experienced professionals at SeptiTech to assist with system adjustments and process changes.
